Uncover Solutions to Back Pain and Neck Pain with These Spinal Decompression FAQs

At the Rutherford Clinic we treat spinal decompression as well as headaches and migraines, upper back pain, chronic neck pain and whiplash. Included in the wide range of conditions we treat is spinal decompression.

What are spinal decompressions?

Spinal decompression is a treatment that involves elongating the spine to release the pressure caused by compressed vertebrae. In many cases the cause of this condition is chronic poor posture. Decompression can stop nerves from being pinched by relieving the pressure that’s the source of pain, numbness, tingling, and other discomforts.

What is non-surgical decompression therapy?

This is a drug-free, non-invasive therapy. Decompression has helped relieve pain for patients who’ve tried everything traditional medicine had to offer, including surgery, only to be told they would have to learn to live with their pain forever. Many sought and found relief from upper back pain, low back pain, and chronic neck pain through spinal decompression therapy.

How do our chiropractors treat Spinal Decompression?

Dr. Stewart gently employs traction, which is a slow and steady process of elongating the spine, to decompress the spine and gently restore it to its correct position.

How does Spinal Decompression work?

Our computer guided in-office treatment starts when our patient’s safely secured to the decompression table, with the patient lead through a series of decompressions and rest periods. A traction force stretches and elongates the spine into its natural position, gently and painlessly, relieving pressure in the spine’s injured areas. Immediate relief of the pain originating from pinched nerves and injured is often obtained.

In this process of decompression, the traction creates a suction force within the injured discs, restoring them to their healthy state. This treatment facilitates improved circulation at the injury site, helping nutrients and oxygen flow more easily through the spine. This results in healing, reduced inflammation and relief from upper back pain, low back pain, and chronic neck pain. Spinal decompression frees you from pain and helps restore your health. You are again able to resume your regular activities.

How will it feel when you experience spinal decompression treatment?

While it may sound alarming to being strapped to a chiropractic decompression table, our patients quickly discover that this form of treatment is very comfortable and very effective. It’s so relaxing that some of our patients fall asleep during the procedure.

Many of our patients have been told by doctors that they must suffer through lifelong pain, but spinal decompression has brought them dramatic pain relief. At Rutherford Clinic of Chiropractic, we feel passionately about helping our patients achieve solutions to major problems like pain and stress that can limit their enjoyment of life. Our goal is to get you on the road to life-long health and wellness.
